What are the TradeSpark SO2 and NOx MPIs?

The TradeSpark Market Price Indices (MPIs) are prices that reflect current market conditions for Clean Air Act Title IV SO2 and Ozone Transport Commission NOx emission allowances (EAs). The MPI is an average of the following three numbers (where available) (Note: fees and commissions are not factored into the MPI):

·         Recent price - prices from the most recent transactions (sales, swaps, and options) either executed by TradeSpark and/or reasonably believed by TradeSpark to have occurred. Also note that the MPI does not include transactions that are reported as retirements or facility changes of ownership because such transactions may not be reflective of current market conditions.

·         Lowest offer price - lowest price, reported to TradeSpark, at which a seller is willing to sell

·         Highest bid price - highest price, reported to TradeSpark, at which a buyer is willing to buy.

Our Hearts are Heavy  As many of you are aware, TradeSpark is a company started by Cantor Fitzgerald Brokerage, L.P. and eSpeed, each formerly headquartered at The World Trade Center in New York City.  TradeSpark, eSpeed, Cantor Fitzgerald, CO2e.com…all of us experienced a sad day on September 11, 2001.  Many of our long time colleagues and friends were lost on this day.  Listed among the missing are Carlton Bartels, Jude Moussa, Rob Noonan, Teddy Maloney, Josh Piver, Tony Gallagher, Ralph Mercurio, Ed Murphy, Adam White, and John Willett.  We know that you all enjoyed working with our colleagues, and, many of you knew them not just as your broker, but as your friend.  Their sudden departure from our lives, the lives of their families, and your lives, hurts beyond measure.  While many of our colleagues are safe, we are overwhelmed by our collective losses.

Your well-wishes, out-pouring of sympathy, and kind words have been phenomenal.  For this, we are extremely thankful.   We are also thankful that we knew and had the opportunity to work with these fine people.  As we move forward, we will take a little bit of Carlton, Jude, Rob, Teddy, Josh, Tony, Ralph, Ed, Adam and John with us.  Perhaps, in that sense, we can incorporate the qualities of their characters in our future dealings with you.

In light of the extreme tragedy, Cantor Fitzgerald has established a fund for the victims’ families.  All money donated to the CANTOR FITZGERALD RELIEF FUND will be used to provide emergency short-term financial assistance and emotional and mental health support to those who lost loved ones in the tragedy, plus ongoing assistance for childcare, college tuition, and long-term health care in the months and years ahead.   You can make a donation by calling 800-446-0500.  Alternatively you can go to http://www.cantorusa.com/index.php for more information.

Greenhouse Gas Reductions Portfolio:

CO2e.com has assisted companies in hedging their greenhouse gas exposure and potential limitations in their ability to emit greenhouse gases.  CO2e.com experts provide risk managers with options to create a diverse portfolio of greenhouse gas reductions and offsets. Transactions include simple purchases and sales to structured options transactions.  CO2e.com currently represents a diverse family of reductions including: (a) Renewable energy, energy efficiency and land-use projects expected to be eligible for credit under the Clean Development Mechanism in South and Central America, Asia, and Africa; (b) Renewable energy, energy efficiency, methane capture and recovery, and land-use projects in Australia, Canada, and Europe; and (c) Renewable energy, land-use, and methane capture and recovery projects in the United States.   Prices vary but start at $0.50-$1.00 per tonne CO2 equivalent and increase depending on vintage year, risk guarantees, and contract structure.  Options prices are according to structure.
