Market Beat...
The Cantor Fitzgerald MPI moved up in August for the first time in three
months to $91.32, an 3.9% increase from July returning all of the price
loss seen earlier last month. The August MPI is now 11.5% higher than the
July 1996 MPI.
The depth of the summer doldrums were felt during the first two weeks
of August. During the second half ,few players stepped up their bidding
activities which drove up the market price. The trading range for the
month was $87.50-$91.50.
