Prospects for Senate Climate Bill Passage Increases with Franken as US Senator -
Today the Minnesota Supreme Court ruled that Al Franken won the contested U.S. Senate race in Minnesota. If the ruling brings an end to seven months of challenges by Coleman, Franken would become the 60th member of the Senate Democratic caucus, a move that gives the party a filibuster-proof majority in the chamber, at least on paper.

Battle Emerges On Next Week’s House Vote on Climate Bill House Democratic leaders are attempting to move HR 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act (ACES), to a full vote by the House by next Friday with debate beginning as soon as next Tuesday. Negotiations between two of the House’s most influential committee chairs will determine whether or not the House vote will occur next week or be delayed until after July 6 when the House returns from its Fourth of July recess.
